PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — There’s now a city-wide ban on evictions, however an area landlord group calls the transfer “unconstitutional.”
Lawsuits are flying and an area tenant advocacy group is accusing the town of not imposing it strongly sufficient.
KDKA’s Meghan Schiller studies it’s actually a tug of battle between native renters and landlords. Some renters say they will’t pay their payments due to pandemic-related layoffs, not to mention hire. Landlords are asking the town, “How much longer do you expect we can hold on?”
“These folks have rent and taxes due and some of these folks’ taxes are due now because Allegheny County just sent their taxes out. So their taxes are due and they don’t have any funding in order to pay and their tenants are in there,” stated John P. Corcoran Jr., lawyer for Jones, Gregg, Creehan and Gerace.
